Best Bard seventh level, eigth level and ninth level spells

#1 Power Word Kill

School: Enchantment
Casting Time: 1 Action
Level: 9
Range: 60 feet
Duration: Instantaneous
Spell Source: Players Handbook, page 266

Description: Power Word Kill may just be the high-level spell you are looking for to reign unexpected terror down upon your enemies. This spell’s wording is truly hilarious, as it suggests that the caster “compels” one creature “to die instantly.” This spell is no joke and being targeted with it with less than one hundred hit points will lead to a creature’s demise.

It allows the caster to transport themselves and as many as eight other creatures of the caster’s choice from their current locations to a destination known by the caster. Just how well the caster knows the location determines how close they arrive to their intended target – if the caster attempts to transport themselves and the party to a location they are not especially familiar with, or that has changed recently due to outside forces, then the party may encounter negative results.

#3 Glibness

School: Transmutation
Casting Time: 1 Action
Level: 8
Range: Self
Duration: 1 hour
Spell Source: Players Handbook, page 245

Description: Glibness may just be the ultimate high-level Bard spell. For the one-hour duration of this spell, the caster may replace any poor Charisma check rolls they make with a fifteen. In addition, magic that might seek to see through the caster’s lies will always fail when Glibness is active. This is a particularly useful spell because it effectively gives you one hour of guaranteed successes on Charisma checks – that means every performance you make, every person you persuade, and every lie you tell, will be an automatic success.
